dedicated hosting - possible?

is it possible for me to rent a server which will allow me to connect to it using remote desktop?
can i install software that i want and have complete control of the server and connect to it using ftp?
is there any companies that provide such a service?

Most people will allow you to have full control of your dedicated server as long as you keep within the Terms and Conditions provided.

What were you looking to do with your dedicated server?

Be aware that this would be a Windows server, not a *nix server, just in case

Forum2 has lots of dedicated server hosts, quite a few of which offer Windows-based kit

Maybe you should indicate your budget.
A server located in a good data warehouse with lots of transfer (and I mean real transfer, not one of these "unlimited who cannot actually deliver unlimited" companies) isn't going to be cheap.
