hi im running 2 260 gtx cards now and iv been told i can add another not in 3 way sli but as a dedicated physx card to my p6t board .

my question is whats the cheapest card i can use to do this , does it need to be another 260( great cheap card ) or can it be something else

thanks

Well you have the cards capable of doing physx already, stick it on and see if the effects are worth the price of a 2nd hand card of your choice.

something like a GT 240 or a 9400/9600GT upwards

I would say an 8800GT/9800GT would be the minimum you would want as a physX card. People have tried it with lesser cards and got worse results than leaving physX on their main card!

I'm currently using a 480 as my main card and a 260 for physX, works well in Mafia and Batman but not sure I'd splash out extra cash just for a few games.

For your information here are the recommended system requirements for Mafia 2:

PhysX medium settings

• Minimum: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 260 (or better) for Graphics and a dedicated NVIDIA 9800GTX (or better) for PhysX
• Recommended: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 470 (or better)

PhysX high settings

• Minimum: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 470 (or better) and a dedicated NVIDIA 9800GTX (or better) for PhysX
• Recommended: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 480 for Graphics and a dedicated NVIDIA GTX 285 (or better) for PhysX

Amazing to see what a high spec of card you actually need to run Physx when a small standalone card did it all already without the extra power requirement and heat of an extra graphics card. Nvidia should really still be offering the option to use standalone's.

mafia 2 a hungry game , sure seems it but i may be wrong
im using 2 260s atm on black ops and seems ok just curious to see what extra bang i could get for a little extra cash rather than chopping it all in for a 400 series say .
