Hi guys, I havent had a dedicated sound card since the awe64. It was a great card that only got binned because I didnt have an isa slot any more.

For the past ~5/6 years Ive always used on board.

I'm waiting something that can cope a bit better with lots of things going on and take a little load of the cpu soi'm looking for a soundcard. mainly for gaming (headphones), music (technics peramp>poweramp>speakers.) and movies.

Which soundcard would you recommend?

The cheapest creative you can find that will work with your OS for games.

And buy a m-audio 2496 for your music. Creative just doesnt cut it for music no matter how much they or other people say it will.
