nope, you just have to restart ff once you've installed it, works fine then
I had to use IE to download it from an application prompt. FF just blinked incessantly and crashed here. Installed now though. I haven't looked into SL much but I'm told the DOM validates which is something Microsoft have always failed to achieve.

Burnsy can you give a background on what Silverlight is, in general? I've seen it pop up every now and then with certain sites asking me to install it, but it's a complete unknown to me. I'm a little cautious of it as a result, Microsoft tends to be a bit more vocal about their projects and applications than they have been with Silverlight.

Silverlight is MS's competitor to Adobe Flash and Shockwave. It is based on the Windows Presentation Foundation and is avaliable for Windows and Mac (Linux rollout is currently in developement by the Mono team).

One of it's main advantages over Flash is the speed increased in having access to a portable .Net framework called the Dynamic Language Runtime as well as being easy to develop for if you have C#, VB.net experience.

It also has the advanatge of being able to integrate well into other MS technologies such as Windows Media streaming server.

Have a look here at developing a simple webapp: http://silverlight.net/learn/learnvideo.aspx?video=57010
