Default Gateway unavailable

I keep losing connection over wifi and when I troubleshoot it fixes it and says it was "default gateway unavailable". Wifi is built in to my Aorus Master Z390 board. Driver version 12.18.8.9. I've tried uninstalling and updating but the problem keeps popping up again. I've changed power settings to "performance". It can go an hour and than in the middle of a game I lose connection and have to troubleshoot again. I'm at a loss, any ideas? Router is the latest BT superhub. No other device connected to it has a problem.

It's a driver issue. I had the exact same problem with two Asus-N13 USB Wi-Fi adaptors and the default windows 10 drivers with it coming up with the default gateway message. In the end I had to uninstall the wifi drivers and install an earlier version of driver for win 8 or 7 and the problem has disappeared. This was the driver version that was causing me issues Driver Version: 1027.4.630.2015
And this is the one that's working without issue Driver Version: 1024.3.718.2013

Obviously your hardware is different but it still may be worth rolling back your drivers.

Once you find one that works stop windows from auto updating that driver.

Hmm still suffering same problem. Thought it had been solved with different driver but then it came back. Wifi card built into my MB is Intel AC 9560 160MHz. I've tried 20.110.0.3 which are on Gigabyte website, no joy and then 21.0.0 and 20.120.1 from Intel's site. Same problem, can be 10 mins or 2 hours but eventually I lose connection and the error is the same after troubleshooting. It's driving me mad now. Have emailed Gigabyte support but they could take days to come back to me.

Do the older drivers come with an installer? perhaps installing them in compatibility mode might help. Do you have a spare wifi card or usb wifi to tide you over until they get back to you?

I wonder if it might have something to do with the MTU for Windows 10, and that's why the drivers for Windows and 7 and 8 worked for Drakulton.

The MTU might be too high. Can test this.

Command Prompt or Powershell as Admin:

ping google.com -f -l 1472

If the result is "Packet needs to be fragmented but DF set" then the MTU needs lowering. If all four packets go through, then no problem there.

I'm guessing Windows has a built in driver as wifi worked before I installed any drivers. I've has no joy tracking these down. I can uninstall from device manager and the device disappears. Restart and its back even though I have windows device installation settings turned off. I can uninstall again but it just does the same. I can't get the wifi to show in device manager with the yellow error icon as I'd expect for hardware that has no drivers. First time for built in wifi for me, I've always used a pci card before.

Not sure of anyone can read this report and make sense of it. I don't think there is anything in it that gives away any details I wouldn't want shared. If there is please let me know

Well I've just had another windows 10 update and the default gateway is unavailable again. Time to block the updates to the usb wifi.

Nope. Thought I had but still an issue. I've been emailing with Intel and Gigabyte but no joy. It is very odd, I can uninstall driver from Device Manager but I never get the icon that says it isn't working properly. It disappears but if I refresh hardware it reappears and has drivers again. I have windows installing drivers automatically turned off. There is only 3 driver versions for this wifi card so I can't go back further. Both Intel and Gigabyte have fallen back on the "fresh Windows install" solution. I honestly thought I had cured it, it went 3 days but then dropped out when gaming again
