default Install Location of programs

Have tried changing the ProgramsDIR key as below:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion

However some of the OS installed apps such as Messenger, IE now have shortcuts invalid and need to be re-found.

Any way of changing the install location without affecting currently installed apps?

Hmmm I don't think so. You will need to update all your shortcuts and god knows what else. Why do you need to do this anyway?

Its a clean install of XP.

I have a small HDD which I just want to install the OS onto and another 2 bigger HDD's for everything else.

Want to keep the OS drive as clean as possible.
