Default monitor not working through DVI

I've just bought a new graphics card (GeForce 8800) which is connected to a 21" ViewSonic monitor. I wanted to try some games on my HDTV so I connected it to my TV via a DVI-VGA adapter. Since then I can no longer use my ViewSonic monitor, which is the deafult monitor. I get no signal. But the monitor does work through VGA.
It seems now that my HDTV is the default monitor so my question is, how do I get my graphics card to pick up the signal from my ViewSonic monitor again?

Please help, thanks

I uninstalled my graphipcs card and drivers and now neiither monitor will pick up a signal. Only my HD TV will work until Windows boots then I get a blank screen. Any ideas? Someout out there must know, please. cheers

Try booting in to safe mode (hold down F8 I think when booting your PC) and choose safe mode, if it does then the resolution might have been set too high for some reason so try setting it back to what it should be in safe mode - if that doesn't work you could try taking out your new card and putting your old one back in and once booted to windows shut down and put your new one back in again.

i had same problem, when i tried the monitor on my brothers rig 7900gt on dvi
it worked ok, so i unplugged it from his machine put it back on my own rig switched pc on and it booted fine on dvi, btw my monitor is a viewsonic vx2025

Do a search for DVI recover !!
Sometimes Nvidia cards can mess with the EDID settings within the monitor.
Make an iso boot cd and boot from it with the DVI cable in the card.
Let the program autorun. Remove cd and reboot.
Voila, you are back on your DVI port in Windows :)

aimed at Bito....

I have had this same problem mate, my samsung 205BW and my nvidia 7900gt via DVI just wont talk to each other anymore and I have tried this dvi recovery tool, but when after having burned it to cd and thereafter booting, i get the error message "Failure to establish DDC link" during bootup

I reckon this update is the way to solve my problem, but i dont know what I am doing wrong
Cheers

Have you tried moving the dvi cable to the other dvi port on the card and then running the disc ??
