Default vmware server images

I have a virtual machine server, which runs a few virtual machines, one of which being Windows XP Pro. I want to create another VM with the same OS, so would I be able to copy the existing Win XP Pro VMDK file, and point a new VM to the newly copied VMDK?

Depending on the software you can normally clone it, else yes you can copy the files + then sysprep the copied image to generate new sid / machine name etc
