I installed Lubuntu 21.04 on my laptop because I usually use LXDE as a lightweight desktop - however, the visual tearing is irritating after using Windows 10, so I installed the kubuntu-desktop package and began using KDE hoping the compositor would use Vsync. Only thing is, it defaults to log in with X11 rather than Wayland (my desktop auto logs in). This means every boot I have to log out and log back in as a Wayland session. How can I set it as default? Wayland is a breath of fresh air. Finally no more tearing!

If you’re prepared to blat it then I’d wipe and go with KDE Neon. You get the latest KDE on a stable Ubuntu LTS and it’s lovely. Wayland can be unstable it but a lot of that should go away when Plasma 5.13 is released.

Ideally what I'm looking to do is just get it to auto log in to KDE Wayland instead of KDE X11 so I don't have to log out and back in again every boot. Wipe seems a bit much for me to do, also I'd prefer to be on Ubuntu 21.10 because of other software I use.
