Hi all,

Ok i installed COD 1, I had brought it a few years ago and played it a few times in the past. But the game doesn’t work as it says there are 17 sound files missing.

I did a little research on the internet and this seems to be a common problem as i have read that some of the discs were defective.

What can I do about this? Obviously I don’t have the receipt for this game anymore; it was a long time ago. But the cd is in mint condition so it’s not something I have broken.

Surly if the disc is defective then there should be a way for me to get in touch with the manufacturer and get a free replacement?

Yea i can get someone with the game installed to send me the missing files, but this is more hastle that someone should have to go though.

I paid good money for this cd and it should work straight out of the box.

Well i have read around on the net and people are saying that they have used the cd before but after a while it throws up this problem.

The problem is that its not istalling the game propery like it should?!

just dl a copy of the internet, you've bought the game so i doubt they'd complain even if you did get caught.

Yeah, if it was bought brand new, I'm sure Activision would be interested in helping you out. Your CD is several years old now, though.

That's what I was thinking.... or clone a copy of a friend's version. Use your own serial, though, obviously.

Grab a copy of the net, ignore any patches or cracks, install with your CD key and all should be fine. You may want a no CD crack if the Cd is a bit borked, but again, all this does is bypass the CD check (if there is one) and not actually effect your game as you will be using a legal key.

I understand that i can find ways around the problem. But i shouldnt have to be downloading copys or cloning other poeoples cds if i have paid for my own, it should work.

How can i get in touch wih them to try and get a replacement?
