Defense Grid - The Awakening Performance Issues

Bought the game off of steam.Love it so far but the game runs like treacle on my system :confused:

FPS drops to single figures sometimes,is this normal?

System is Dual Core Conroe 6600 @2.4Ghz, 3gb fast ram , ATI 4870 1gb (latest drivers installed)

Bizarre, I have been playing it fine, on a 4 year old 6300, 4gb ram & 4850...

Have you tried defragging the steam install?

OP's system is almost identical to mine, with my CPU running at 3.7ghz and 4gb of ram - not that it should matter. It's a very light game and hardly intensive at all, it flies on my rig anyway and should do on even a lower specced machine. Could try defragging the game files as mentioned.

I have it running on an E6600, 2Gb Ram, H5770 and it runs perfectly :/

no it doesnt, try to run fraps while playing an intensive mission. the fps do drop quite a lot. this is how the game is and cant do anything about it. you dont need 60fps to enjoy it though

There is a problem with some ati cards and the latest drivers apparently. Some say the cat 9.4's work but I haven't tried them yet.

i've read this on the steam forums for the game - i didn't see a solution though other than rolling back the drivers.

Thanks for the replies everyone.Fixed it by rolling back to 9.4.Silky smoooth now
