Hey guys,

I'm torn between these 2 cases.

I'm planning to upgrade to Threadripper and possibly Vega later on in the year and I currently just have a cheap generic messy case.

I don't really need the extra space of the Define S but I want it to be as cool and quiet as possible.

Does anyone have any experience with these cases.

I also see that the Asterion Classic is up at a good price today only. I really like the look of this case but can't find much in the way of reviews (not as far as temps etc goes anyway).

I am not planning to water cool in the near future.

Any advice?

I thought C was updated version of the S:) one of the reviews mentioned this (maybe hardwarecanucks)

So to me it would mean C>S as it would be more refined version of the similar case.

I only had experience with define C. I would assume it is quieter with its dampening panels.

Regarding how cool it runs, I would say most of those recent cases have all open plan inside, so airflow would be similar and temps. Some of the cases can accommodate 140mm fan at the back (like this Asterion) which might make it a slightly better. Asterion also has TG so it depends if you care about the looks.

I have the Mini C but did look at the S. The obvious difference is the extra depth on the S which is geared to being used for watercooling (or an extra long gfx card). The other thing that put me off the S was the top moduvents - with the C models they come with a dust filter so when the top moduvent is removed you can cover the intake and provide some dust protection along with a better aesthetic look. With the S they don't supply one so removing the moduvents leaves you with a fugly intake on the top of your case (I have contacted Fractal to suggest they revise the S to include the filter).

Oh yes, the C has a PSU shroud the S doesn't so you might want to consider that a well.

i have a fractel design R2 XL (a huge version of a fractel case and running a slient rig out of it even with a 5930K & 1080Ti

just building a new PC with a fractel design C

it should be even cooler & quiter than the R2.

for slience bequiet & fractel are best, if you want extrene cold check out the 400Q and 600Q from corsair

I believe the C is newer but it's smaller and doesn't seem to keep things as cool. Is it as quiet?

Any thoughts on the Asterion Classic?
the S does not have as much sound damping

S = Watercooling in mind
C = compact sound dampening/Air in mind

my current build arriving in new few days will be fractel design C with Extreme silence aiming for <20dbA

Thanks for the advice guys.

In the end I went for the p400s TG which I know wasn't even on the cards when I started this thread. For what it's worth, I would have gone for the c. :)
