hi, before i start ive had a search for a similar thread but nothing turned up. Ok, this whole chav business if kinda worrying me as im not 100% on what people consider as a chav. Here is the North East (where im from) Charvs are anti-social, burburry wearing, trousers tucks in socks, dole dwelling, pick a fight on anyone kind of idiots. Now see im starting to think that some people will see me as a chav. I like to wear sports clothes like adidas, nike etc etc, which some people would consider "chav" clothing. I also like to listen to Dance, Trance and club music which also some poeple consider being "chavvy" and even possibly in the near future i want to buy my first car a Vauxhall Corsa!. I dont want to be considered a chav as im totally opposite, i dont start fights for no apparent reason, i dont steal i dont even have a Criminal record.

Hopefully someone can tell me "what i am" lol so i can be sure im not a Chav...

Leave your views.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news but you appear to be entering the world of the chav. Wearing sports clothes then not doing sport is the biggest marker there is. Sorry.

Combined with a corsa... and well its not looking good.

Best thing to do is wear half normal and half sport clothing so make yourself appear a bit different. Oh and never wear the cap... nothing can unchav you if you are sporting the cap.

lol damn, well i think the answers to those are very simple though. I like wearing sports clothing as its the most comfortable clothes for me to wear. And also a vauxhal corsa is very cheap to run and keep?

Be a man, wear jeans.

Unless you're *** sort of guy who wears a cap all the time you might just about get away with it, but if you have a cap then you're already lost.

Yes but sadly thats what the chavs do so to do the same makes you appear to be one to most people.

As long as you dont do the burberry and pants in socks things and dont wear a cap you might be ok. Also no gold... and make sure your GF is over 15 and isnt orange :p

Chav is an lifestyle/atitude and not related to items IMO. Just don't wear the hat argh.

I walk naked around my house at times, doesn't make me a nudist :p

Chav originally was one of those acronyms like Yuppie, Dinky, and Bobo. It stands for "Council Housed And Violent".

It now has a much wider meaning.

Your fashion and car choices make you a prime target to be labelled in this way.

Much good advice has already been given on the fashion front, try to cultivate your own personal style. Frankly the suggestion that you wear sportswear because "it is comfortable" sounds like an excuse. Usually sports wear is made of 100% man-made fibres and is anything but comfortable.

As far as the Corsa is concerned, there are plenty of other cars that are inexpensive to buy and to run, but if you insist on geeting a Corsa rather than anythng else then it must not be modified in any way or you may as well tattoo "Chav" across your forehead. Alloy wheels which cost as much as the car are particularly to be avoided as well as ludicrous sound systems.

Try to keep the car really dirty as well since the automotive chav tends to polish and primp the vehicle (presumably to draw attention away from their hideous loudmouthed chavette girlfriend whose name can be seen next to theirs on the windscreen).

No, i dont suit caps, only ever one cap ive worn in the last 5 year and that a Fox Racing cap. for when im at racing events to stop the sun getting in my eyes.

Get them socks released from ya F*ing trouses......... Damn I HATEEEEEEEEEEEE that so much seeing people (chavs) with socks tucked in their trouses!!!!

I think a chav is personality wise and alittle looks. IMO

You sounds fine to me mate.
I would define you (and this is purely my own classification) as a Geeza.

Geeza in my mind = English Fella, wears sports clothes, dons Pink polo shirts | NOTE: collar MUSt be stuck up into the air |, white trainers.
Likes a bit of foo'y (tried spelling footy without the t :p ), down the pub with his mates, but has a propper job.

Many estate agents fall under this category :p

The whole chav thing does my nut in!! So if i wear a pair of tracksuit bottoms to go the shop, i'm a chav? It's ridiculous, i hate people trying to pigeon hole you all the time.
