Deflating a football or similar..

Hello all,

This might sound a bit stupid, but what is the best way to deflate a football, or any other ball so it can for example be safely put in a suitcase when travelling in a plane.

Is it possible to just use the end of a pump valve thingy or are there proper deflater kits?

I can't find anything on either google or sport shop websites, unless i'm looking at completely the wrong thing..

ok ok, cheers, i thought as much, just not needed to deflate a ball for years, had a friend ask me about deflating an american football as i wasn't so sure about them cos they are much more solid, thanks once again
