defragmenter problem?

hi all, recently getting an error message when running the defragmenter in windows, when defraggin thec partition it says:
"connection to the defragmenter engine was lost"

anyone else got this error message before? defrag works on the d partition of the same drive. so its really odd.

running windows x64.

I got that for a while on Perfectdisk. I couldn't for the life of me figure it out and I ended up reinstalling it. I'm not sure what to do with the windows one?

Try using perfectdisk, it's a pretty nifty program.

does it have a service that it runs, check to see if its set to automatic and is started in start, run, services.msc

i get a message like that if i don't have my o&o defrag service running (and eventlog for that matter)
