I bought a 1kg bag of birds eye petit pois around 3.15pm and they've been in my car until now. Naturally they've all defrosted, though the bag is cold, and on the bag it specifically says not to refreeze which is pretty standard for defrosted foods. I've put the bag, still factory sealed, in the fridge and need a good handful of them on Sunday to go in my cottage pie to take to family and eat on Sunday night. Of course I don't want to poison them.

Will they be ok in the fridge for 4 days? I can throw the rest of the bag away after that.

Can't see why not
Though another bag costs next to nothing if worried about it
I don't like wasting stuff but I just throw it into the garden
The local wildlife eats it
Especially the foxes nothing I have ever thrown out has been turned down by them

I'd of thought so,they're only peas. Some things are sketchy that you'd think weren't like rice. Yesterday i ate some refridgerated/uncooked mince 2 days out of date,i am alive. The peas will lightly be quite nice when absorbing some meat juice, so they'll be lightly okay. Though refreezing now would be kinda sketchy if not using sooner rather than later, though depends on their actual freshness as it's peas! Refreezing messes with texture due to moisture loss also.

It's the 'warm time' you need to worry about with refreezing, not the act of refreezing them that's the issue.

Peas won't go bad sat at ambient temperature for a day, so you're fine if they been defrosted and refrozen in a time frame less than that.

As above, it's foods that spoil quickly that you need to be careful with, meats, cooked rice (perfect bacteria breeding medium).

Ah, I see. Wish I'd known that on the 18th, could have refrozen them that day.
