This is kind of weird.

Basically recently when I try to navigate into folders and sub folders, rename files or folders etc., more and more time is needed to perform said functions.

It's quite odd and has recently only occured.

A quick google suggests that it's a networking problem (Windows is waiting for something to clear(?)), but nothing's changed on our network recently.

I have recently changed hard drives that house my media files and am finding the same problems with the new ones. So I'm pretty certain but not entirely unsure it's a hardware problem.

Can anybody help please?

Have you got a network drive that's not connected? That's when I started seeing problems. I'd suggest going through every mapped drive to see if it can connect if it can't then you've found your problem - just disconnect it and job done.

Alternatively if you don't have much mapped you could disconnect them all and see if it performs any better if it does you've found your problem.

Google suggests its a network problem, but what AV or IS are you running have you tried said functions with your AV/IS disabled ?

I'm using Kaspersky with Vista 64. Turning it off has no effect.

There's nothing mapped to my PC on the network. It's very weird. We only have 2 laptops and a pc.
