So I have this build (see sig) for just over a month now and something annoying has been happening. Once systems booted up, everything is just sluggish but not to the point where it's slow but rather delayed.

Clicking on my downloads folder or Dropbox, few secs before it loads up.

I've ran memtest, prime'd it, checked out event viewer (which showed some VSS error so disabled it) other than that, no BSOD's or crashes, just a tad slow.

Games run smooth as it should just waiting for some of the system settings (i.e. display settings, device manager) or my dropbox, takes a good 10-15 secs to load.

Now the hard drive I use I have had for a number of years and never had an issue in my old Q6600 rig ever, currently running HDtune now as I write this but would like to ask the community if there could be anything else I could check for?

I'd suggest a few fixes:

1) Check your graphics drivers (unlikely, but worth doing anyway)
2) Check your Intel Chipset drivers
3) Get an SSD. Your hard disk may also be on it's way out so also think about buying a new spinning disk for data as well.
4) Use either Western Digital's Data Lifeguard Diagnostics for Windows or Seatools (Seagate equivalent) to scan your disk for issues. Doesn't matter what make it is.
5) Run a Malware Scan (Use Malwarebytes Free)
6) Run a virus scan, not MSS - Use Avast or another antivirus tool instead.
7) Try running at stock, turning off the overclock and see if this still happens.

See how you get on.

Old hard drive?

Buy an SSD, use that for Windows. Buy another hard drive and use that for data.

Well the HD is a Seagate Momentus XT 500GB so may not nippy like SSD (keeping my eye on prices for the 480Gb's) but a lot did me fine till now
