Well I'm in abit of a situation with my pc. On and off for the last month it's been increasingly dodgy. BSOD and refusing to boot on occasions. I finally took the decision to reformatt and install a fresh windows installation to see if that would clear any issues up. Which it did for almost an entire month but then the problems came back. This has happened to both my HDD's 200gb maxtor diamond and a 80gb version. The 80gb still loads windows but within 5mins will BSOD.
Both are about 3-4 years old now so I figured they may just be suffering some problems due to having to move my rig around (been at uni for 3 years) and they've been damaged. So I stuck a new Seagate 250 in and installed windows xp sp2. All fine. Then the next day I got round to installing the various upto date drivers and itunes and avg. Still all fine. Then today I went to install warcraft and it wouldn't install one of the files. Decided to restart my pc. Now it takes a good 10minutes to boot up and when it gets to the windows loading screen it sits there and then comes up with a Delayed Write Failed message.
Delayed Write Failed.
Windows was unable to save all the data for the file C:\$Mft. The data has been lost. This error may be caused by a failure of your computer hardware or network connection. Please try to save this file elsewhere.
Clicking on OK just causes it to think abit more before showing the same error but for a different file.
This is not the first time I've seen this problem. It's what started to happen to my old 250 maxtor HDD. Various google searches have left me pretty confused as to whats causing this error. Is it a hardware issue (but not the HDD) and if it is how can I pinpoint the problem? system spec below.
