Dele Alli finally opens up

Not really sure where to put this, its certainly not banter. Informative watch and sad all at the same time.

I hope we (Spurs) waive or at least delay the £10 million that Everton would have to pay if he does play more than however many games are left, Everton can't afford it and Dele doesn't deserve to be benched over a contract situation.

Watched this morning that lad has been through the mincer in life for sure what an upsetting upbringing he had

Wont forget him tearing apart real madrid in the champs league. Really hope hes now in a good place and can get back to his best because he's one hell of a talent

Just finished up his Overlap interview and found it incredibly moving. Incredibly courageous of the lad to open up the way he has and get it all out there. Nothing but respect for him going forward and wish him all the luck in the world. If he shows an ounce of the brilliance he did some 8 years ago he'll be back playing some great football, I've no doubt.

Echo the thoughts above. Respect to him for speaking out. I hope he continues to get support and can rekindle his career. Nicely handled by GNev also.

Heartbreaking stuff to hear. Even if he never reaches his old heights, its amazing to come through that childhood and still manage to play at the level he did.

You'd hope players coming out and talking like this will encourage football to be more sympathetic to players who drop out of form unexpectedly. Never know what people are personally going through.

As a Spurs fan this does help explain what we saw happen with him, from changing the name on his shirt which should have been a massive red flag, to his game just nose diving. He shouldn't have been forced to do this because the tabloids got the story, I hope it might have helped him to get this out there but it should have been on his terms when he was ready. Fair play to Gary, he handled what was an incredibly difficult situation like a pro, he went up massively in my estimations from that interview.

A real eye opener. Sometimes when you see a player on the pitch with attitude, combined with media circus, you get a picture in your head of the type of person they must be. This is a stark reminder that you just don't know these people for real.
Good luck to him going forward. Amazing interview.

The sad thing that brought a tear to my eye is that there are thousands of children living a life like him who are not so lucky. It almost makes me feel guilty looking at my own children when so many go without.

I really hope he can come back from this as Everton could really do with a player of his quality.

Yeah sadly there will be 1000s if not 10s of 1000s going through similar abuses that he suffered as a child. It is just so wrong and they should all get the help required when they have to deal with it as adults,. It of course should never happen but humans can be horrible *****

The tabloids are utter scum first and foremost.

I thought Dele came across really well and spoke very eloquently about some incredibly tough subjects. I’m not sure how prepared Neville was for the content but he handled it really well and also asked some insightful, open questions while being sensitive throughout. It was a difficult but really good watch.

I haven't watched it yet but I'm be surprised if it wasn't discussed beforehand what was going to be covered in the interview, setting boundaries etc. His agent will have ensured that Neville was briefed I'm sure.
