Is it possible? I want to remove my account in the face of widening suspicion of personal info leakage and all I can find is the Deactivate option - this leaves tour account there but "inactive", not actually deleting it.

I remember reading somewhere you can't, is this true?

You have to remove all the content manually then ask them nicely. They respond in about 24 hours, usually to point out one obscure image you missed somewhere.

Just email them and they will remove it. Seems a bit extreme though. Iirc I think they won't let you create a new account from that ip.

What a strange reason to delete your profile for. Just set your privacy settings accordingly!
Not in the slightest, recently there has been a whole rash of reports highlighting info leakage etc:

As a quick example: http://yro.slashdot.org/article.pl?sid=08/02/07/1646250&from=rss

I wish I hadn't signed up for it when it all started (before the kiddies got to it) and now it's just a burned that fills up my inbox and serves no useful purpose..

I don't want to just deactivate it, I want to flipping well make sure they delete my account - I have seen the things about having to manually deleting photos/friends etc but that is a bit pants isn't it.. oh well, if that's the way it has to be done..

I've had someone hack my account - I changed my password and contacted fb about it. Hasn't happened since. All they did was change my status.

ICC (Internet Code of Conduct) + Data Protection states that any individual who wants any information owned by one self to be removed from any companies records is entitled to such a thing, if the company refuses to do such a thing then they may face the courts.

Did this at Alevel ICT and Law.
