Hi,

This may be a long shot, but does anybody know if there is a program that will delete all the songs on a hardrive that are not on a particular playlist?

Basically my hard drive has loads of songs on it that are duplicates/not wanted and they have been deleted from my Songbird library, but not from the disk. Is there any way that I could either automatically delete all these files, or perhaps move all the files still in use somewhere else, leaving only the unused ones?

Thanks

this method is probably a bit crude but worth a try. can you force songbird to update tags on all the files currently in your library. this changes the "last modifed" time stamp on all the files. then using explorer, search for all music files on your drive. now you can delete all the files which haven't been modified just now.

that sounds like a reasonable way of doing it, but i'm not sure how I can get Songbird to update the tags?

I think I am onto something by using iTunes and allowing it to manage my library/add new files to the iTunes libarary area on disk (Music/iTunes Music).

I'll see how I get on with this method then report back!
