Hi. I was having troubles in XP with a dissappearingn external usb hard disk, and someone suggested changing its drive letter. Unfortunately i just deleted hte drive letter, thinking obviously windows will give it a new one.
Now, when i plug it in i see (in device manager) the USB mass storgae device under usb controllers, and "usb device" under hard disks. But tehre is no drive letter for it in my computer.
Disk mangement doesnt see it either.
Tried connecting it to a vista machine, adn disk management said it needs to be initialised. (whichi didn't do becuase i need the data on it).
I've got access to OSX, Vista dn XP but don't know what else to try.
How can i force a drive letter onto the drive?
