I have accidently deleted a partition on a memory stick whilst reinstalling Windows XP. I have tried one or two recovery programs and they dont really restore it back to its normal state.

Any one got any ideas or pointers?

**Can this be moved to the Windows Forum Section please**

I suspect you mean Hard Drive rather than memory stick? You can have a RAM Drive which is a temporary storage that loses all information on it when power is switched off but, in this case, i think you accidentally deleted a partition off your Hard Drive during the process of re-installing Windows.

If this is the case it's highly unlikely you'll recover what you want in an un-blemished state. Even if you throw a ton of money at it. There are specialist data recovery companies, but they charge a small fortune for results that cannot be guaranteed. If the Data you had is really valuable stop using the drive now and try one of these companies.

If the Data on the drive hasn't been overwritten it can be recovered but after installing Windows onto the drive and, if you have still been using the pc since, the chances are slim.

Thanks for the response but it was actually a Sony Memory Stick that had a partition. I deleted it and now it is not recognised by Windows as having an active partition.

I'd love to know more about your partition on a memory stick. Something i haven't heard of before. Same thing applies though. You'd need to pay for Data recovery if the partition held valuable data and hasn't been overwritten.
