Deleted .MOV files from SD card - how to recover?

Hey guys.

One of my friends deleted the video files of wedding speeches from her SD card on the PC by accident and was wondering how to recover them.

She tried Recuva (I think) and it said it could but then wanted $80 or something mental. Its a Windows laptop she has.

Any suggestions greatly appreciated,

I've used PC Inspector in the past...

Hope she has set the SD card to be read only before anything else can interfere with what might still be there !

PhotoRec is a free, quick and easy program to recover files. Doesn't get filenames or folder structures, but if you're after just all the files it can find dumped in one folder, it's perfect:

Download it, open it, select the SD Card, set it to recover .MOV only (or skip this step to leave it recovering pretty much anything), tell it which folder to write the recovered files to and leave it to run.

Another vote for photorec.

Though $80 (£63) is not bad if your guaranteed of recovering them

Free version will recover up to 500Mb of files.
I have used it on a corrupt SD card, not expecting much, but it recovered all of the files I needed (and showed 100s that had been deleted ages ago, that it could still recover).

I don't think photorec has a GUI, it's command line only.

I kinda did the same thing! I've only gone and factory reset my Mrs phone and it had our child's heartbeat on it! do you think I'll be able to recover it with this software?

These are only aimed at memory cards, phones are a completely different story. What phone make/model is it?

Recuva is free. Doesn't charge, she was using fake software.
