Deleted Partition/Repartitioned to same size. Can I access the old files?

I have re-installed Windows XP Home on my drive. The drive was split into 2 partitions, C being 20GB and D being the remainder of a 40GB HDD. I deleted both partitions and then created both partitions to the same size during the installation procedure and installed XP on the C partition.
The D partition has not been formatted and shows in Windows as New Raw.
Is it at all possible to retrieve the old files from the D partition?

Google for "Ultimate Boot CD" there may be a tool on there that can do this for you, although i give you a slim chance...

Thanks mate, I dont hold out much hope myself but Ill try the disk, has to be worth a go.
