I did some testing on modern games. Even i3 totally fine FPS in Crysis 3 when OC to 4.5ghz. I put together two bundles which may fit your needs. Including how to OC the none K SKU CPU.

Your 380 or 970 Choice GPU is working well with this bundle and I suggest for gaming you go the best GPU you can.

For Skylake u need ddr4, ddr3 waste of time and u lose perf.

Also to make i3 worthwhile u should OC. U can't on that board or infact any non z170. U need the clock gen on z170 to OC blk.

The bundles I linked u to we warranty the OC. Just follow guide to OC the bundle. I sold many of these already and only one issue. Which was just MB needing RMA. In 50+ sold this is very good success rate.

For u I think i3 bundle perfect.
