An X800 Pro would be quite a bit quicker and would cost roughly £100 2nd hand. You can probably get a 2nd hand 6800 for around £100 but this will be slower than a stock X800 Pro. On the other hand, a lof of the 6800s unlock and overclock very well, giving you very good performance.

EDIT: Forgot to answer the intial question ;)
A vanilla X800 is slightly faster than a 6600GT. If you add AA and AF it can end up considerably faster.

Used X800's or 6800's are going for around £100 nowadays and would be a massive upgrade from the 5950, I wouldn't recommend the 6600 nowadays, especially from the card you're upgrading from.
