I would go with BE for the better speed. ADSL24 is not ADSL2+ so you are limited to 8mb. With BE you can get up to 24mb.

If you only need a contract till June you'll need to manage your exit from BE a bit in advance as you'll have a 3 month notice period there, but aside from that they are well worth considering.

What are your current line stats?

I ask since there is no point going for the Pro package unless your line is good enough to make use of it.

Do you sync at 8128 on Max at the moment for example?

The trick is to have the router next to the master socket, and then use a long ethernet cable instead of a normal telephone extension -> no speed loss

You may want to ask a few other eta resellers like adsl24 questions ie ukfsn - titanadsl - aquiss and see response times to your e mails because i think be are going to go down the pan with 02 now offering broadband and the service will start to degrade.

Based on what? O2 have owned BE for a considerable time now.
Most subscribers are with BE for a reason, and are a bit more informed than your average ISP customer.
With this in mind, considering theres no fixed contract just a 3 month notice period, they stand to effectivley lose all thier customers in a matter of months if the service degrades to a point that is comparable to normal ADSL service......I dont think they are about to do that;)

Be ...

Completely unthrottled and unlimited ...

Same reason I'm with them.....Plus the fact that you wont get better basic dl/ul speeds anywhere else unless you look at some kind of silly expensive business orienated deal.

I mean, cable providers boast really good speed, but when they throttle you back to 4meg*, it puts things into perspective...and the upload capacity is dire.

*example for illustrative purposes only

I live ~2km from exchange, speedtest.net which is always slower due to various reasons.....

Check me statz innit

just re-set modem, it was readin 11 meg D/l, now only 10.5 for some reason...

Apparently so - but this is a trial of BT's 21CN wholesale services, not an LLU based service like be*, so it'll be a long time before it filters down to customers.

Its not overly long. My exchange is getting it in Q2 2008 which is one of the first to have it done from what i have read of others. My exchange doesn't have any LLU services either.

They're talking about the whole process lasting until 2012. In my case the local exchange is earmarked for Q3 2010.

For anyone interested Samknows' exchange search shows the target dates for when this kind of service might be available to them.
