The only way you will get the full upload speed on BePro is to use Annex-M as that is how it works!

That is also the reason why you lose downstream speed, its a trade off against one or the other.

Do you know if your line is interleaved at all (Be call it fastpath) if it is currently not then you might give them a call and ask them to turn it on, would raise latency in gaming by a little bit but will increase stability.

Be don't call interleaving fastpath. The inverse of being interleaved is being in fastpath mode.

How much you lose is unpredictable - you'll lose the lower frequencies that your downstream normally uses (which typically have a lower attenuation than upper, so tend to be more heavily used). If you can't make use of enough upstream frequency ranges to compensate, you'll lose speed.

If the test socket gives faster speeds it could suggest that any extension wiring in your house might be giving you problems.

Looks like it - you can get replacement faceplates from a competitor for not a lot, or you could just stay connected to the test socket.

I had a problem for years where my 56k connection would only work when I had a 3 way BT socket adapter plugged into the master socket and the modem plugged into it. (see below)

BT tested it and said there was no problem with it and refused to change it, eventually there was an accident and a large hammer landed on the master socket so I replaced it myself. :) Works fine now.

You could try cleaning up the 2 sets of electrical contacts on the faceplate or try a different lead with the hope its a snugger fit. New faceplates not that dear and probably easier

You have no landline phones I take it!
