The company that shares the building i work in has just had some food samples delivered which is pretty boring in itself, but the polystyrene packing case it arrived it is stuffed with dry ice pellets :D

I've already done the mug of steaming & bubbling tea trick (just popped a few pellets into cold water in the mug) on a few workmates but can't think of much else to do with this fine stuff. I have approx 3kg's to play with, any ideas?

Be very careful about using it in an enclosed space - it will drive out the oxygen and kill you to death.

put some in a small plastic container with some warm water, tightly seal it and run away! You will be shocked by the force of the explosion. If there is a lot of it then fill a sink with it and puor on warmish water and leave,it will 'boil' over the sink and fall to the floor in a misty carpet fashion

Put some in a sealed coke plastic bottle! Used to do it with liquid nitrogen and the effect was amazing, no trace of the bottle (or your hearing) will ever be found.

Or your eyes, if you stand too close.

I used to work in a lab that got loads of the stuff. We would regularly pop a small pellet into an eppendorf (small tube about the size of a pen lid with its own lid) and casually drop it in someones bin when we passed, giggling at the ensuing loud pop and gasps of shock... :D

Put all of it in one of them fountains at a shopping center.

Or go to an amusement park and place the pellets into the water on a log flume. Be sure to take a camera :D

:D

Great idea!
