Thanks for the heads up on this, I've just finished watching the '74 season and quite frankly I'm left feeling pretty frustrated.
Obviously squeezing a whole season review into a 45 minute program is going to mean some things are going to be left out, but I'm pretty disaspointed at the amazing lack of actual racing footage there was. At my count there was only around 30 seconds of actual track time shown per race, none of which showed any overtaking, crashes or important incidents. The coverage of the Nurburgring had no footage of the forest part of the track at all, scandalous. There was also no driver interviews or podium celebrations.
What we got instead was lots of behind the scenes footage including pit stops (laughable by todays standards), close up footage of drivers discussing things with their team and lots of random crowd footage.
This was all pretty interesting fortunately, as it's always great to get a feeling of 70's motor racing and just how chaotic it all is (not to mention the fashions!).
Even more criminal, though was the overall poor quality of the presentation, which had zero technical information on the cars. The only technical note given was the comment 'the Ferrari's V12 is more powerful than the competition'. That was it!
So, pretty frustrating, but was overall I'm glad I watched it so I could get a feel of 70's F1, but I'm left wondering if poor coverage is down to rights holders perhaps?
Can anyone recommend any DVD's that I can get that actually have some racing in?
