The last lot of ink i bought for my R2 was "compatible" and i can't tell the difference.

I'm just glad i then bought 2 more sets of carts as it looks like the compatible carts are hard to find now

On my canon, inkrite compatable carts are the same quality at a 1/3 of the price try looking on here http://www.medea.co.uk/inkrite/cartridge_finder/epson.htm find the ink codes then google..

My personal way of doing things is to alternate between original and what I consider to be high quality replacement carts (Viking Direct, I think I'm allowed to post this?). My printer is a HP, & I've found that only using replacement carts will bung up the print head, which then needs to be cleaned using the utility. Alternating keeps the quality good.
Think its something to do with the particle size in the ink- Remember; You get what you pay for
