Is that 4cm upwards or 4cm sideways? If it's sideways avoid the Zalman, it's flat and wide. The AC Freezer (non-pro) is quite compact, but tall. Swiftech are quite squat and narrow, and they work very well. Something angled like the Akasa Evo might also work out well for you. Could post a picture?

That's really tight!

No way would you get the Zalman in there. The swiftech will probably fit, other than that various water-cooling solutions would be feasible, including the Coolermaster Aquagate Mini R80 or R120. Normally, these get slagged off because they are no better than the best air cooler, but in your case, you can't fit the best air cooler so an Aquagate might be a significant improvement.

Yes - if you think about it - the stock cooler has a 70mm fan - the Zalman has a 120mm and then there is about 1.5cm of metal beyond that. It's very wide indeed.

Changing the case is very simple. Release all your add-in cards. Unplug the cables. Undo the 6 or 8 screws that hold the motherboard in. Remove the motherboard and the I/O shield.

Put the I/O shield in the new case, put the motherboard in the new case and do up the screws. Plug in all the cables (main 20/24-pin power cable last). Put in all the add-in cards and fire it up.

You might get a 7000 Zalman in there, that's only a 92mm fan.

In my Silverstone Sugo I was a bit pushed for space in there so I chose the swiftech cpu cooler with a 92mm akasa amber plonked on it, that could fit.
