Try songbird, its not in a repo but you should be able to install it with the instructions provided on the site. Its a based on firefox and is similar to itunes.

Give it a go, I should say its still in pre release but I didn't have to much trouble when I tried it.

If you have a Windows Partition maybe you should try the windows version, it will be easy to install and get rid off if you don't like it. It is very good, you will be missing out by not a least familiarising yourself with it.

Other than that have you tried Banshee, that is well supported.

I guess you don't think much to RythemBox if you have taken the time to install Amarok, personally I think all KDE apps suffer with over complicated options and annoying behavior. Many will disagree.

If you liked amaroK, apart from its instability, you should try it again but, this time, set it up to use the MySQL database rather than SQLite. It makes searches much much faster and more reliable when dealing with large collections. It easily plowed through my 60+ GiB collection when running a 500 MHz PIII with 192 MiB RAM as a music terminal.

amaroK with mysql; am eagerly awaiting the windows port to be far along enough so I can set it up without much hassle; finally Foobar will have a competitor on Win.

Right click, select Properties. Go to the Open With tab. Click Add. Click the arrow next to Custom Command (to expand it) and type in:

/usr/bin/exaile

Click OK etc and then double click your MP3. It (and all others) should now open in Exaile :)

Right click it -> Open With -> Open with Other Application -> If it's in the list select it, if not -> Use a custom command -> Type exaile

It'll then appear in the list after it's been opened once.

I use amarok, but never had any problems with it, if using the MySQL solution doesnt work Ill give you another vote for songbird, it worked pretty well for me.
