Using the link provided by Hyburnate it states at the bottom of the page how to identify the router.

Easy to tell which one you have, log into the routers webUI, go to maintenance tab, then router status.

At the top of that page it will have something like the following:

System Details
Manufacturer Sagemcom
Model Number F@ST2504n <<<< this is the info u need.
Firmware Version 6.14.1a4N_UNI

Going from what you said its either gonna be the Sagemcom F@ST2504 or the Netgear DG934G. So you can do as above to double check, but there should also be some info on the underside of the router that will let u know which manufacture it is also.

cool :) from my point of view, MER is just a nuisance that makes it even harder to put non sky routers in place.

There are choices, you can go with a billion 7800n, they released firmware that handles sky MER; Or you can just set up the sky router to pass all and use whatever you want.

It's not only the MER bit that's different, sky do something with the DHCP on the exchange side also, so the router needs to be able to handle that. Currently sky only use username|password combo for authentication, but they could, and maybe will do, also use mac address, so make sure your new router can spoof that too.
