Gold Panda, Seams, Toro Y Moi, James Blake & Caribou are some electronic artists I like.

Don't know if they'll be up your street or not but hey.

Crystal Castles
Daft Punk
Yeah Yeah Yeah's
The Chemical Brothers
Data
Ratatat
LCD Soundsystem
MSTRKRFT
Simian Mobile Disco

those are the ones that come to mind.

edit - And Vitalic! one of my faves

sub genres are killing electronic music. its totally ridiculous , few years back a forum i go on pretty much made up a genre just to prove stupid it was and it became fairly credible. i advise ignoring them completely

if you want similar artists then go on youtube/myspace and start with one which will lead to others. or check out the labels they release on

This is a pretty good starting point for the acts mentioned in the OP.

Also, anyone liking Air should check Zero7 and The Album Leaf.

... and as for similar to Vibrasphere, go for Infected Mushroom.

If you like Air, try some Zero 7. The albums Simple Things (especially) & The Garden. Little Dragon is much more current and on my playlist as well.

One of my all time favourite producers is L.T.J Bukem. Chilled drum & bass. Search out Logical Progression.

Just been scanning my collection I have so many and such varied stuff. Little one off oddities, like Bentley Rythm Ace, The Avalanches, CSS & Husky Rescue.

God knws what stupid 'genres' they would put all that into.

www.di.fm is good, they have internet radio stations for almost every genre of electronic music there is. Considering you like Carbon Based Lifeforms, Vibrasphere etc, give the Chillout one a listen, it's very good. Progressive is one of my favourites too, although I tend to listen to www.friskyradio.com more often.

Groove Salad on www.somafm.com is excellent too, I highly recommend it.

If you have Spotify, I find that's an excellent resource to finding new stuff, just by looking for some artists you do know and then using the Related Artists page from there. If you have Spotify let me know, I'll post some links to some playlists I have that you may really enjoy.

Have a listen to Progressive Trance, it's a great sub-genre and plenty out there. More podcasts than you can shake a stick at so you don't even have to buy initially!

Armin van Burren
Myon & Shane 54
Gareth Emery

To name very few. Also a mate of mine has started doing his own podcast and it is really very good - clicky

Only none of them make progressive trance, just normal trance, and a far cry from what the OP is actually looking for. :p
