Check msconfig for unknown software packages and restart to test if it's gone.
Also check task manager and check for odd running processes. You can right click end task for some of them and it may disappear, helping you figure out which it is.
 
Asus AI Suite.

Happens on first load with dual monitors. Open the app from the system tray then X it off to put it back down there, window should go away with it.
