It's not loading one or more CSS files for styling. This is why it's defaulting to the default font (typically Times New Roman), no colouring, and everything is aligned to the left.

Thought I'd typed that out... typically I find Ctrl+F5 (force refresh) resolves it on the odd occasion I have the issue.

Maybe happens less often as I just use the standard 32-bit stable Firefox release, rather than Waterfox etc.

Could try changing the DNS server: https://developers.google.com/speed/public-dns/

I'd also check the hosts file for any weird entry and make sure that you're not using a proxy (check internet settings -> Connections -> Lan Settings).

Is it only Chrome and Waterfox that are affected?

Personally, I just set the dns in my router to the Google ones.

Hmm, do you have another device you can test with on the same internet connection? What ISP are you with? Could give this a go to see if you get any packet loss that could cause a problem: http://www.pingtest.net/

I've had the issue with wiki a few times before. I always assumed it was a problem with them.

When you change your DNS be sure to clear the cache;

from cmd type ipconfig /flushdns

You might also need to clear the web browser cache as well.

Hmm, well seeing as it's the laptop, I assume you connect it to the router via wireless? Could give a wired connection a go to rule out it's not a shoddy wireless adapter in the laptop?
