Is there an advantage over getting two 5770's when you could get one 5850 and add a second later?

At the moment, my 5850 is easily managing all games at maximum settings at 1920x1200, the only exception being crysis (well, still plays but at 25-30 fps).

C3 stepping? If so getting to 3.8 is not difficult.

Someone posted their bios for the overclocked 720 bundle and it was not very impressive. Huge voltage bump over the rated Voltage.

I think your PSU should be fine; you do you only need 2 PCIe leads?

well you're right...

2x 5770 perform better than a single 5850.

but with 2x 5770 you have no room for improvement.

If you've got the money get a 5850 and then laters when you have some cash buy another one and crossfire 2x 5850.

Edit... probably with crossfire 5850 you have to change your psu as well

For one 5850 yes.

Power consumption of 108W max means you can use your PSU to power two but will need adapters due to lack of plugs. Not sure which 12V rails supply which leads from the documentaion on your PSU.

Just make sure you don't put two cads on one rail and you should be fine.
