I'm not so sure, CPUs do get faults yes, but is very rare. Remove the CPU from the motherboard, check the underside of the CPU for damage or dirt/thermal paste and then check the motherboard for bent pins.

What are temps like under Prime95?

Could be possible it has suffered some static damage?

To the OP, what were you wearing when you built it? What surface was it built on? Did you take any anti-static precautions?

Again extremely rare, modern components are a lot more robust.

If the CPU is faulty it is likely a manufacturing issue imho.

Temps hovered around the 60°C mark when running prime95.

Temps are fine then.

Try LinX All Memory and see if you get the same sort of error. Run the .exe as Admin (right click > Run as Admin) Do 10 runs with the "All Memory" button selected and see if it passes.

Relax the timing on the RAM or up the ram voltage slightly, maybe a notch or two. Passing memtest is all fine but may not show up a random error or one where the RAM is voltage starved under heavy loading.

Very true, I'd set the memory to 1333MHz and use the rated timings and voltage on the side of the module. If it still fails then relax the timings by one across the board. LinX All Memory or Prime95 Large FFTs should pick up on memory issues quite quickly.

your RAM and your CPU are both Fine but is just the combination of this two that is the Problem
try to double check your Ram voltage(cause this cpu does not like high voltage RAM like over 1.6v )and make sure that u didn't set the timing of your Ram to auto on your Board (i Google your RAM and im pretty sure that they aren't well compatible with the new Intel sandy bridge)
Worst case try you setup with a recommended RAM for Sandy B

So I've been running Prime95 blend test for just over 14hours at the exact same settings as when I got the fatal errors. Everything is still at stock. Has anyone got any suggestions as to what the fatal errors the first time could have been?

Without seeing a screenshot of the errors it is hard to say. I'd say if you don't get any stability problems and it passes Prime 95 Blend for 12 hours then it is fine. Just use the system as you normally would, if you get any problems or Blue Screens note down the code (example would be 0x0000124). Might pay to disable Auto Restart in the Computer Properties > Advanced System Settings > Startup and Recovery section so you can do this more easily.

That is quite a claim to make without any proof. I've used XMS3 on Sandy Bridge without any issues and there are many Corsair modules in his boards Qualified Vendors List. Sure not the exact modules but they can't test everything.

As long as he has manually set the rated timings and voltage for the modules and it passes both Memtest86+ and Prime 95 / LinX All Memory which it does I'd be very suprised if it was the memory.
