Deleting a Windows installation from a second drive

Safe mode - Same problem as above.

I thought I'd be able to access a dos prompt via "F8" before boot but there's no option for that.

if you stick in your windows 7 disk then start the computer do you get an option to goto command prompt like xp used to?

*edit

or even if you have an xp cd laying around use that...just select to boot from CD Drive from the bios first

Psexec and safe mode for the win!

PSEXEC allows you to operate via the system context. Even when logged on as a user, even with Admin rights, you do no have full access.

The alternative is to F8 at start and choose safe mode with a command prompt.

The last option is to ensure it's not listed in your boot.ini, config or system properties. I've had this before, a similar situation, whereby Windows chucked a system folder onto a spare 500Gb drive. I couldn't delete it. I had to format the drive.

Yours is a slightly different situation and should be dooable with one of the methods above

Use Hirens BootCD which is freely available it has tools for moving files about and because Windows isn't running it should let you copy stuff over to another drive. Once done you can format the drive.
