you are mad just for a few extra mhz you want to push it to 1.5v are you mad and to delid it as well that is even worse you are seriously running the risk of frying your chip i would just buy a better cooler and clock it to what you can with the lid on

Take your time and do the corners first. I was nervous first (and only so far) time but it was a lot easier than I expected

I know you say you cannot afford a new cooler at the moment but maybe you could get a used one from the members market and sell your current cooler? Something like a Prolimatech Megahalems or Noctua NH-D14.

The cooler is definitely holding you back - I've googled a few reviews and can see a 9C difference between these two at load -

Also you don't say what thermal paste you are currently using and how it was applied?

Is it possible to reglue the metal heat spreader you cut off after or do you have to just keep it loose on it ?

you can buy some blck adhesive to re stick it,but you have to leave a tiny gap or else it will explode if the heat cant escape from underneath

if you look theres a tiny gap originally where the black die is in the green pcb

easier just to place it on loose and let the clamp hold it down

Little strip down the left and right would do imo, just something to keep it on instead of having it loose when attaching the HSF
