Hi all,
Never built with intel before but am throwing together a cheap and cheerful PC for no reason other than a bit of fun.
I will be running a 6600k, and want to see how close to 5ghz i can take it (on Air) so naturally the first thing i'm going to do is sand the IHS as flat as poss, delid it, and replace TIM with Conductonaught LM.
I have a couple questions as i have seen this done in numerous ways...
Lap the stock IHS, or buy a Copper flat (supposedly) IHS from ebay etc?
Is it better to use LM on both the Die and the inside of the IHS? Or just on the Die?
Is it better to re glue the IHS (was going to use a drop of flexible glue on each corner) or to leave it free floating? Or is that a bad idea due to the LM and better for using paste?
Many thanks in advance!
