Hey guys,

I'm thinking about selling my laptop on ebay. As I've never sold anything on there before (as well as never having sent parcel, ever), I'm not at all familiar with how to send it to the eventual buyer. So looking for a bit of help from any experienced ebayers among OCUK, if possible!

My main questions are:

1) which courier would you recommend?
2) will I need to wrap the package up myself, or can i get the courier to do that?
3) how much would you estimate the cost of delivering a laptop (in its rather oversized retail box) to be? I realise this may be depedendent upon how far its being sent etc.

Any pointers would be much appreciated. :)

anyone with insurance recorded delivery, even parcel force...yeah, your better packagin it yourself...loads of bubble wrap and brown paper in a sturdy box , check what others are pricing there delivery costs...what i did sending various stuff even a full exhaust system...dont forget to write fragile all over it then your covered if it gets damaged...

As above. Cover it very well with bubble wrap, pop it in a box and fire it off Special Delivery. You will be covered for the price of the Laptop easily.

I also reccomend putting the box into a bin bag, wrapping it tight around the box and tape it to within an inch of its life. If your a little unsure about fraud and such on Ebay, you could also security mark it somewhere to avoid having a duff one sent back to you. It can happen ;)

If you have a local post office around, take it down and weigh it on their scales and go online to the PO website to check the costs. I sold an IBM Thinkpad on MM months ago and it cost me £20 to send it Special Delivery.

Just be careful :)
