Hi guys
I have just recieved my order from OCUK
Gainward 4870
asus p5q-pro
wolfdale 8400

Both the graphics card and mobo have been opened.

none of the boxes were sealed and the anti-static bag had been opened.

I spoke to customer services and was told that I could return them if I wish.

I dont want to send them back unless they dont work, but as they were not B-grade Im wondering why they were opened, there was even a bit of dust on the graphics card.

Just thought I would air my concerns

cheers

i would either send them back or ask for a b grade discount, i defiantly wouldn't accept second hand goods that i had paid good cash for

Thanks for your replies.
I will call them back and see what they can do. Im glad im not the only one that thinks this is not right.

Thanks

Hi
Just called OCUK. The girl at customer service said they would take them back but was not very helpful to be honest. I then called tech support. The guy I spoke too was much more helpful and said that they shouldnt have come like this and that I can either send them back or try them and if they work fine keep them.
They have made a note of my call.
I need this pc built by the end of the weekend and so I think I will keep them.
Would like to know what people think and is this something that happens a lot as I may take my business some where else.

cheers

I would imagine its a rare occurrence, customer service is usually pretty good at ocuk, maybe they thought you were trying to pull a fast one?

I would take pictures of the items and serial codes, if there are any, and ask for a discount (if you are going to keep the parts)

There was a thread on other forums not long ago where guy recieved asus p5q board that wasnt sealed either and few other ppl recieved theirs from different retailers in that state. Actualy a guy working for one of the retailers (member of that forum) had a look at their stock and all their asus p5qs werent sealed. Looks like something ASUS does.
My p5kc wasnt sealed either when i got it but all the cables, etc were sealed.
Dunno bout gpu.

I've never had a problem with them, and always find them very helpful and accommodating over the phone. The Webnote system tends to inspire some abrupt responses, but I don't use that very often.

yeh my p5q pro wasnt sealed , nor my asus 4850... Put it this way, if it was clearly meant to be sealed, but the seal is now broken, then ring alarm bells.. I notice sapphire have a seal on their cards, but since i noticed no sticker residue on either of the asus products or any warning about seals it did not ring alarms for me...

as far as i remember if its meant to be sealed the bag will have "check seal" printed all over it...

Some of the anti static bags seals can "unstick" in our warehouse in the winter due to it being so cold (Sapphire are the best for that with their box stickers). Obviously we are in the height of summer!

The asus board would not have any seal on the box as they are just straight open jobbeys, the gainward card I will check out for you but I think these are just boxed without any tamper stickers aswell but I will confirm.

It happens sometimes when our suppliers send us goods as we do not inspect every aspect of every product when we buy them in, its just not economical to open (and sometimes break the stickers in the process) every product unless we know there is a good reason to do this.

Only major example I can think of is the OcUK 24" screens where we check each and everyone one to make sure it is VA after we were sent a bad batch of the normal TN pannels!

I will go and investigate the boxes. :)

EDIT: Gainward cards took 5 out from the front of the shelf and opened them up, small finger prints on the white box which contains the card with no tamper sticker, inside the box is the card in a bubble bag with a cheap anti static warning sticker covering the flap. One was very loose and I doubt would last another courrier trip and would be open but not torn upon receipt.

Asus motherboards are normal motherboard box without any wrapping and inside is a anti static bag just folded over. M2N SLI, Rampage X48 and 2x P5Q-Pro.

Thank you for bringing this up however our webnote system is the fastest and most appropriate way to raise this sort of issue. Clearly no new product should reach you in a less than fit state and we treat all such instances very seriously.

Instances such as this should be routed via our Tech Team, which you did and I hope has been resolved to your satisfaction. If not please let us know via the webnote system.

Regards,

Rupert
