Hi,

I'm about to order something from an online store.

This is from the Terms and Conditions-

Delivery Schedule We will ship your order right away. We will normally send your order to you the day after payment is received.

All orders under £25 will be shipped via 1st Class Mail (UK Only).
All orders over £25 will be shipped via 1st Class Recorded Mail (UK Only).
All orders over £75 will be shipped via Special Delivery (UK Only).

UK based orders are generally received within 5 working days.

Would that last part suggest it will probably be delivered up to 6 days?
I'm spending £18, so I'm not getting free delivery, but it states 1st class delivery.

Thanks

Why would they not send under £25 recorded? Surely people can just claim they had never received an order and they would be forced to either issue a refund or reship unless they can prove otherwise ?

Maybe they have more faith in humanity than you do.

It probably saves them more money doing the cheap delivery and replacing the lost items than it does to pay for the extra delivery costs.

recorded delivery is the standard postage + 95 pence
Depending on how the postage is set up it can create an extra workload. For instance if you were franking these parcels, sending them 1st is about 5 seconds work, however adding the recorded sticker means entering some details in a book such as destination address etc which the postman must sign. This takes a few minutes. So for a couple of hundred of parcels the time difference can be quite large.

so i can send myself parcels and claim i never received them to make money? i think not

It seems like you think your post disproves that all first class parcels are insured up to a maximum of £41, but I'm having difficulty finding which part actually disproves it outside of you saying so.

they give insurance no questions asked ? isnt it only for damaged parcels anyway?

It's standard insurance, it comes as standard with first and second class postage purchases. It's for damaged and lost, it's actually gone up to £46 now.

You do have to provide proof of posting, and of its value.
