anyone have a dell inspiron 1545 laptop?

well basically the battery is dead, only am able to power it up using power cable...

but my question is..should i purchase another battery?

if so, which 1?

i did some research. and found that many people had the same experience with this issue (battery dies in like under 6 months.....what a useless battery dell has created)..

now that i think of it, what would u suggest i do?

purchase it? but will it do the same thing? fail in like under 6 months?

also the 9-cell batteries for 1545 are bloody expensive =/
£120...for it on dell website....i mean wow.

so..is it worth buying? or not?

My brother has an Inspiron 1545 (was a refurb from the Dell Outlet), and the battery has completely gone too. Happened just outside the 1 year warranty.

There are cheap ones on eBay (not the fakes from China, there are some genuine ones for £20-30) if you want to get one. Think thats whats he's going to do.

Same for my sister too, she got hers in October 2009, year and a half in the battery is now nearly gone, can only hold 40mins of charge, I would suggest looking on ebay too for non fakes, but if the laptop is within warranty, give dell a ring and insist on a replacement cause the quality is shocking

Last I heard dell batteries should be warrantied for 12 months. If it's older than that, unlucky. Also you should check the bios to see if it shows the correct rating for the charger. If it shows as not detected or unknown then it may be a motherboard or charger problem.
