Hey all

Currently got a samsung sm913n and i can't stand the low res, so i'm thinking of getting a 2005fpw :)

a friend of mine is selling one at a v.good price, it has one dead pixel and a small backlight issue and no warranty.

Do any faults develop with this monitor? Like will the backlight bleed get worse? Should i pay an extra £40 to have a one year warranty by buying it elsewhere?

Thanks

Hey, thanks for the replies.

@ Apatche64
I had a 22" crt before that so i am used to more desktop real estate. The extra width will be nice :)
The samsung is a great monitor, although it was/is my first tft. (and i was thinking of the 2001fp but i wanna try out w/screen!)

@Hades
The monitor i'm buying off my friend is for £220 (inc delivery) and i think i'm talking about the same place as apatche, because i can get a dell with 1yrs warranty for £260. So i'm not sure to skimp on the £40 for the warranty.

The backlight bleed seems common with all 2005fpws, i was just wondering if over time it can get worse etc?

Thanks for your replies.

Nah its not bad...its just there :|

Well, i read on a diff forum that someone got something burnt onto the screen and it was hell sorting out the warranty with dell. They needed a certain number on the back etc.

I think i'll risk it...*touch wood* How does dell do its warranty thing?

I was thinking about the 2001fp but i wanted wide screen for watching stuff and playing cs! :D

thanks for your responses guys.

it arrives tomorrow ;)

Hey guys, update.

I bought it off my friend in the end. I could barely afford this upgrade, so i went for the cheaper option!

I'm shebangled! When i took it out i was like...ooh its pretty big...Put it on the stand and turned in on..DROOOL (i'm still monitorgasming)

I love it! Never gonna sell it..unless i upgrade! :)

Ok i bought my samsung 913n from a shop for £200 (i wanted it badly and after delivery from sites it would be roughly the same) but if you have the extra cash definately get this monitor!!

The difference in image quality is huge. I was used to my 22" crt and when i change to the samsung cs looked bland and the textures looked v.wrong. I got used to it though. And now i can't even see the individual pixels, cs looks shweeet again!

I thought that the widescreen would be weird. But its not. Some games don't support w/s but it can be stretched but i just leave it on the normal ratio. Desktop and net use is good too :)

One of the best things about it is the stand! With my old samsung it would be tilt a bit...but its really useful for me to be able to increase height. :D

The bleed on it looks bad in photos though :S But to the naked eye it is noticeable but not bad. To me the bottom right of the screen looks like it has glare on it but i only notice that on loadin screens and thats it. Watching lost and playing games i wouldn't know it is there.

Well, i'm uber happy about my purchase, and if anyone else is thinking of getting one they won't regret it! :D
