A couple months ago i was looking for a new monitor to replace this ailing 17inch crt. I didn't actually make a decision though...

I'm looking for a monitor for working with graphics / photos, but will be ok at gaming also.

I had decided on the Dell 2007FP over the 2007WFP as i want the higher vertical res.

Is this still a good choice for my needs ? I think i really need to make the decision of the next couple of days.

Thanks for your input.

id personally recommend the 2007wfp widescreen, you say you want to game as well as photowork, youll find this monitor good for both, plus the extra horizontal area will benefit more in photo applications, ie you can have 2 a4 size pages open at the same time. like you i had a 17crt inch screen at a time, im on 24 now but i had a 20 and it was a vast improvement from the 17 inch

Yeah as already said for photos you're going to want a widescreen. I don't see how you will benefit from a higher vertical res.

I use my 2007WFP for a lot of photo work and couldn't imagine trying to work on a non widescreen panel.

I never have to graphics programs open side by side though... kinda defeats the point in a widescreen for photo work I do have 2 word documents open though. Say if I was doing some research work I can have Word and Firefox open side by side. Such a time saver.

Many thanks for the replies.

I was going for the non-widescreen because:
* slightly higher resolution (1600 x 1200 over 1680 x 1050)
* I have a wacom tablet thats non-widescreen
* last, and perhaps most importantly, this machine has an old 6800 card. I had heard that some 6800 cards had problems with widescreen res on the digital out ?

Am i worrying with no need ?

Thanks again.

Ah the tablet is a very good reason to go for the FP.
6800 card... humm.

I used a X800 and it only just manages it. Im not a spec guy though so wouldn't know.
